Explore the 'land of a thousand hills'

Modern Rwanda is a nation rooted in its past, yet firmly set on its future. This wave of optimism has made the country's beauty all the more captivating on foot. Begin your journey in the lush Nyungwe Forest to trek along the Igishigishigi Trail, crossing suspension bridges to witness the vast forest canopy below. Head out in search of Chimpanzees and spend time observing these incredible primates. Continue along the shimmering coast of Lake Kivu and savour views of coffee estates draping the hills as you listen to stories of the nation’s resilience. Then, hike into the Virunga Mountain Range to track families of Silverback gorillas and learn about local conservation efforts—a heart-stirring experience that will leave you deeply connected to the people and primates inhabiting this beautiful land.

Please note the price does not include the chimp trekking permit ($150 USD per person) and gorilla permits ($1, 500 USD per person, per trek).

This trip is capped at 12 travellers.

Level 4

This trip is appropriate for travellers who take long walks three times a week and don’t mind a little sweat. It involves navigating steep, rocky terrain with no flat walks. You should be sure-footed, comfortable with uphill and downhill trekking, and prepared for several hours on rugged ground. Closed walking shoes are essential.
