This morning after breakfast, we say adios to Peru.  For those with flights home or beyond today, transport to the Cusco airport will be provided.

Daily walks range between 3 to 11 km (1.85 to 6.85 mi.), on cobbled city streets, grassy terraced hillsides and the winding footpaths of the Inca Trail. We travel through the Sacred Valley at altitudes between 2,100 and 3,700 m (6900 to 12000 ft). Apart from the challenging walk up to Machu Picchu, the trip is moderate. You may find, however, that the altitude requires more effort than at lower elevations. Expect some uneven stairs on our hikes in the ruins as well as some sheer drop offs in places.

Butterfield & Robinson will provide you with a pick-up service from the airport to your hotel upon arrival in Cusco, provided that you send us your flight arrival information well ahead of your scheduled trip date. After your trip, there are three scheduled times between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM for drives to the airport in Bari. If you have any concerns about your return flights, your guides will be happy to re-confirm them for you prior to the end of your trip.

Our first three days of biking are on rolling coastal and flat interior roads winding through olive groves. Our last two days are along rolling terrain through vineyards and groves. Daily distances range from 46 to 80 km (29 to 50 mi.).

After meeting at the hotel, we'll get fitted for our bikes and head out on a flat route that travels into old town Otranto. Please be dressed for biking when we meet. Your trip will end at the main train station in St. Pierre des Corps in time for the direct 10:39am train to Paris Montparnasse. Most flights from Paris to North America depart in the late morning or early afternoon; therefore it will be difficult (though not impossible) to fly home that day. We recommend spending at least one night in Paris unless you are disposed to catch an earlier train on your own. Those who need to go to CDG airport can take the 10:54am train arriving at CDG airport at 1:04pm. Those who need to get to the airport earlier than 1pm will have to arrange a separate transfer at their own expense.

Most of the riding on this trip is level with gentle grades, but be aware that the Loire Valley is not flat, there are several longer climbs. The daily distances average 45 km (28 mi.). There are three layover days, which allow for some shorter routes and, for avid cyclists, longer options.

Following an ancient route, we will pedal the rolling hills of Prosecco from Marostica to Conegliano and onto timeless Venice, where the trip culminates in the famously renowned city of canals. En route, we’ll make a foray into Valdobbiadene and perfectly preserved medieval Bassano del Grappa, the region home to radicchio, asparagus, risotto and tiramisu. In this region, the culinary adventures are as extraordinary as the scenery!

Nowhere does the slowing down feel more apropos than Piemonte, the birthplace of Slow Food, where epicurean delights await around every corner and verdant vineyards abound. We pair our meals with many of the best vintages (on us, natch), then kick back at the intimate and gorgeous La Villa.

We'll drop you off at the Dijon train station in time for the mid-morning TGV to Paris. Most flights to North America from Paris depart in the late morning or early afternoon making it difficult, though not impossible, to make a same-day connection. There's much to see in Ireland's west—and more to taste than you might think: from frothy Guinness and fresh mussels to tender lamb and wild-caught salmon.

We will drop you off back in Galway, where trains for Dublin and rental cars are available. Note that the time is subject to change, depending upon the train schedule to Dublin. Your guides can also help you to arrange direct transfers to Dublin or Shannon airports.

The terrain is generally rolling, with rare flat sections. That said, the climbs and descents are generally neither long nor steep. Daily distances average around 41 km (25.5 mi.), with several challenging longer options available.

Adventure extends beyond borders

Tilting at windmills? Hardly. See the coast that inspired the Dutch Masters, then taste the culinary magic of the three-star Manoir Inter Scaldes.

We bike along truly flat bike paths and quiet country roads. Although the routes are flat, we may encounter headwinds on some days. Average daily distance is 45 km (28 miles).

We'll meet in the lobby of Hotel Pulitzer and take a short drive directly into the heart of the bulb fields, where we’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how the flowers are grown before meeting our bikes. It’s a short easy ride to the main floral attraction: Keukenhof Gardens, where seven million flowers are on display! Delve into Dali’s backyard: ride rolling volcanic hills dwarfed by the Pyrenees, explore time-stamped villages and feast on molecular cuisine.

We will arrange onward travel to the train station or the airport. We recommend spending time in this magnificent city either before or after your B&R trip.

The riding is varied with the majority of terrain being rolling hills and flat stretches on quiet country roads. There will be a couple of challenging climbs that can be conquered at your own pace (and perhaps even enjoyed, as they bring us to more amazing vistas!) In order to avoid some of the busier roads, our routes sometimes include unpaved gravel and dirt roads. The days’ distances range from 25 to 52 km (15.5 to 33 mi.), with options for more every day.

Bustling souks, breathtaking Berber camps, crumbling Kasbahs and camel rides over the silky Sahara: no, this isn't a mirage—it's a dream come true.

Daily biking distances usually vary from 20 to 50 km (12 to 30 mi.), with options on some days as far as 62 km (40 mi.). Our average bike ride is 53 km, with the option one day to do a 102 km Century Ride. Our ride in the Entre Deux Mers lets you warm up your legs, as the topography is flat or very gently rolling. The Dordogne’s terrain means that each day involves a few challenging hills—but the climbs and descents are either short or gradual, ranging between 163m and 889m. Most roads are very quiet, with a few busier sections in towns.

This trip is appropriate for travellers who take long walks three times a week and don’t mind a little sweat. It involves navigating steep, rocky terrain with no flat walks. This hiking trip covers a variety of terrain that at times is challenging. Paths are mostly hard-packed dirt trails, however there are some rocky paths with a mix of ascents and descents. Our aim is to provide you with an exceptional experience with maximum attention to your safety and comfort. This trip is rated Enthusiast, meaning it’s appropriate for travellers who bike about once a week at home. Our daily rides are between 18 and 45 km (11-28 mi.) over quite rolling terrain, with occasional long climbs and shorter and longer options possible daily.

Your private adventure through Provence’s lavender fields, narrow vineyard paths, secluded olive groves and limestone ridges awaits you.

This trip is rated Enthusiast. Walk mostly on gently rolling terrain, although you'll tackle the occasional steep climb or descent. As the terrain is often rocky, footwear with good ankle support is essential. On average, you will walk 7-15 km (4-10 mi) each day. The option to call a taxi to make the walks shorter is always an option.

Our walking is somewhat hilly with a few steep sections, and a few flat ones. For the most part, we stay on the dirt paths that run through the vineyards, countryside and along the coast, but we occasionally take quiet asphalt roads. The walking on Etna is exposed with some loose gravel. The daily distances range from 7 to 13.5 km (4.3 to 8.3 mi.) with van support or shorter options for when you’re ready to relax back at the hotel.

This trip is rated Avid, meaning it’s appropriate for travellers who walk regularly and enjoy the feeling of achievement after a good hike. The more challenging options are lead by a local naturalist who will present options in order to find the best match for your interest and ability. Some walks are on narrow footpaths and along mountainsides, while others follow well-surfaced stone paths. A light hiking boot is advised for hikes along the Monte Lattari paths. Please note that vehicle support is limited on this trip due to the inaccessibility of trails and island paths.
